Die cuts
Die cuts consist of shapes and letters which are cut out from cardstock or paper. This is done by using a die cut machine. Die cuts are commonly used in card making and scrapbooking projects as well as being used for other paper crafts. Their use as an embellishment tool by card making hobbyists and crafters has grown in recent years; this has been mainly due to the increase of home die cutting machines for crafts that are now available on the market. Many of the die cuts home machines are portable and some don’t even require electricity to power them, making their use very practical.
There are more powerful home die cutting machines which do require electrical input. Probably the most famous of these is the Cricut Machine. The Cricut is not technically a die cut machine, but nevertheless cuts shapes from paper and card stock by the use of cartridges, so in effect the result is the same, and therefore the Cricuit machine falls under the same umbrella as more traditional die cuts.
Below is a list of Die cut machines or machines that fall within the die cut category. Alternatively you can buy pre made die cuts assortments from
crafts shops or online crafts store specialists. Die cuts are very useful to use as card toppers and embellishments in a variety of craft projects.
